We were singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" last night during Pro Musica rehearsals.

Director (looking at the men):  I need you to sound less like Robert Goulet and more like Bing Crosby.

This is short but sweet.  I am thankful that I weigh less this year than I did at this time last year.  I still have ways to go, but I think I can do it.

I am thankful for our pets.  They bring such joy to our lives and show us unconditional love.

Pooka cat is very nurturing and has such a good heart.  She is so sweet and loving.  We call her Dr. Pooka because she will check on us when we are sick.  Now, if only she will accept the dog.

Neeko cat is definitely my cat.  He has his nightly ritual of giving me love right before I go to sleep.  He also wakes me up on the mornings.  He snuggles with me and sings.  Unfortunately, he doesn't like anyone else.

Ike the dog is a bundle of energy.  He gives me the best "I love you" looks.  He so wants to be everyone's friend and doesn't understand that the cats and most other animals don't like him.  He is friendly, kind, and shows that he really appreciates that we have rescued him.

Thankful

I will take the lovely [livejournal.com profile] bountifulpots  challenge.

Today, I am thankful for my mother.

I can talk to her and she will listen.  She also offers to tell people off for me  (It's a long story.  It's Sin-D's mother-in-law, who made a very rude and insensitive comment about children to me while I was at Ricardo and Sin-D's house.  I didn't want to say anything rude while I was in her family's house).  She supports me and is proud of my husband.  I'm very blessed to have a mom like her and thankful that she was chosen just for me.

Happy Thanksgiving!  May you have a blessed day and be safe.

Have you read more than 6 of these books? The BBC believes most people will have read only 6 of the 100 books listed here. . Bold those books you've read in their entirety, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish or read an excerpt.

I had kickass English Teachers )

I am going through this. The problem with all the options is what is covered and finding ways to finance said things. I have considered IVF, but my insurance does not pay for it. Right now, I don't see it as a viable option. I have actually been approached by women who have offered to be my surrogate. That sounds great, but I'm not sure of all of the baggage that goes along with it. I am not against adoption at all because I am adopted. The things you have to go through in order to qualify as an adoptive parent are just insane. I know that they want to make sure the child is placed in a decent home, but gee whiz.

The cost is another major issue. I know that some people would say, "Well, if you are worried about the cost of these procedures, maybe you shouldn't have a child." I understand where they are coming from, but people have children all the time. The cost to actually having a child is so much cheaper than any procedures to if you cannot conceive.

Right now, I think that all of the options available to people who cannot conceive are not cost effective and have caused a great many people who would otherwise be great parents unable to do so.

Your Inner Child Is Surprised

You see many things through the eyes of a child.

Meaning, you're rarely cynical or jaded.

You cherish all of the details in life.

Easily fascinated, you enjoy experiencing new things.

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. Obviously, they helped. I start at Country Club Heights on Tuesday. I'm nervous and happy. My students at the prison were not so happy except that I will be working with kids. It was bittersweet today leaving, but I think I'm doing the right thing.

The summer between my freshman and sophomore years of high school my church youth group went on a float trip down the Illinois River in Tahlequah OK. We had gone the year before and had a really good time. This particular year was very rainy. When we got to the place to rent the canoes, it was suggested that we get rafts instead. Sure, we thought this would be a fun idea. I wound up in a raft with my friends Rita and Christina. I'm not sure which of them was in the front, but I was the rudder. Bad idea. I managed to get us stuck under a tree with fairly rapid water rushing under us. Rita and Christina made it out of the raft and floated on downstream. I became wedged against the tree and the raft. I was finally able to wrestle the raft away, but I kept going under the water. I tried holding on the tree with little success. I went under about three times. The last time, I let go of the tree and said "God, it is in your hands." I went under and yes, saw the proverbial "white light." I also heard, "Not yet." I then bobbed on the other side of the tree into the waiting arms of my youth minister. It was very shaken up and started sobbing into our other sponsor's arms (She was one of my many adopted mothers). After that experience, I tried to take a "life's too short attitude." For the most part, I still try to adhere to that.

You Are the Fairy

You are charming, cheerful, and a little bit magical. You make other people's lives better.

You are a bit eccentric at times, but you truly care about people in your own way.

You are hyper and restless. It drives you crazy to sit still, and you are usually the first to leave any event.

You are unpredictable and flighty. No one can guess what you'll be up to next ... or where you'll be!

Right now I really identify with "Her Diamonds" by Rob Thomas.  I have been feeling what is described in the song.  I have gotten better, but it still strikes a chord with me.

Music initials

Instructions:

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

Bonus assignment: Explain your song choices.

[livejournal.com profile] decembertyger  gave me the letter G

1.  Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John.  I've always liked this song even though it is very depressing.
2.  Grease - Frankie Valli.  I've always loved the musical Grease.  My cousin and I knew all the lyrics.
3.  Grizabella, the Glamour Cat - Cats.  One of my favorite Broadway shows.  I know all of the lyrics too.
4.  Gethsemane ( I Only Want to Say) - Jesus Christ Superstar.  One of the best written songs.  I got to see Ted Neeley (Jesus from the film) sing this live when he did a tour.  It was AWESOME!
5.  Green Eggs and Ham - Seussical the Musical.  This is such a fun song.  It is at the very end of the show.  I was Mrs. Mayor.

My hair has been executed.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] decembertyger  for the idea from her haircut.  I'll try to post pictures soon.

I think I've had my annual May meltdown.  Most of you know what I'm talking about.

I still haven't heard anything from Saint Mary's.  They said they would start interviewing in May.  I'm going to call them on Thursday probably.  I REALLY want this job, and if not, I still have one, thankfully.

Trying not to be bitter over Cinderella.

I have gotten numerous compliments on my singing over the last couple of weeks.  It almost makes up for the Cinderella issue.  I was also told I didn't look a day over twelve. (By a person who has known me since I was ten.)   Hmmm....

My co-worker said I should go get the babies in Shawnee.  If only it were that simple!

Lots of drama at my former church.  I think we made the right decision to leave.  Things could get worse and more nasty before its all over.

Nervous about my students taking the GED on Friday.  This is my first one as a GED teacher.  I have five taking it.  Two are only taking the Math.  This could make me look really good or really bad.
